Cathleen Heintz practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, with significant experience in: insurance coverage; oil and gas; construction defects; professional liability; labor and employment; life, accident and health insurance; and ERISA.  Ms. Heintz has handled litigation throughout the Rocky Mountain Region, including Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. She has appeared in state and federal district courts and courts of appeal in the region, including the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to extensive handling of litigation on behalf of the insurance industry, Ms. Heintz has significant experience in the energy sector, successfully litigating personal injury matters on behalf of several major international oil and gas corporations and service companies.

In 2010, Ms. Heintz testified before the Colorado House of Representatives regarding legislation significantly affecting the insurance and construction industries, including amendments to the Colorado Construction Defect Action Reform Act (“CDARA”). She has a unique background in the insurance industry, having worked for several major insurance companies in the contracts, compliance, underwriting and claims departments for nearly a decade before becoming an attorney. Ms. Heintz is a frequent author and lecturer on insurance-related topics.

Ms. Heintz is a Member of the Board of the Colorado Chapter of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (“IICF”), and previously served as Chair of the Southwest Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (“PLUS”). Cathleen also presently serves as the Chair of the Litigation Practice Area of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.

Ms. Heintz is a member of Mensa International, and has served as the Gifted Child Coordinator for the Denver Chapter of this organization. She also volunteers her time as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Arapahoe County Advocates for Children.
